Does anyone see the trend in admissions friendliness that is the reason I am moving down south?

Re: Admissions Office Shout-Outs
best so far in my experience has been michigan- very friendly, they sent out info / got status checkers up quickly, and send me a nice handwritten note
worst so far...UCI and UCLA. UCI i got one email saying my application has been received. i send an email inquiring as to whether or not it was received, because i hadn't heard anything in a while. that was at least a week ago and i still haven't gotten a reply. UCLA has also been very slow, and when i inquired whether or not my app was complete they send a rather curt email saying i'd get an email when it was. again, weeks ago, and i still haven't gotten a complete email...

The following comments are based on last year's cycle. I am now applying for 2010.
The Good: Wake Forest - absolutely wonderful
The Bad: Alabama
The Ugly: UNC - slow and sloppy

Cincinnati... met me at the law school door like I was a celebrity. Greeted me by name, comped my parking, and gave me a really down-to-earth, honest tour. Really a wonderful experience, not awkward like undergrad tours led by some overexcited, overcoached 2nd year.

Shout out to Iowa - really compassionate admissions office. They even put me in touch with a student to address some concerns I had! thorough answers, friendly, etc.

Props to Vandy and Duke for the way they handled my visit...both were very friendly and put me at ease (this was in the spring and I was still feeling my way through the process). When I dropped by Duke OCS unannounced, I immediately found someone who was happy to discuss the job situation for 15 minutes. Vandy was exactly what it was reputed to be - those people are amazing.

Agreed ... in particular, WUSTL was terrible.
The hands-down best experience that I had was with ND.

+1. I sent the admissions office an email requesting that they review my app before they received my December LSAT score, and Wendy responded in just 4 minutes notifying me that she made my file complete.

I looked into attending SMU in the even that I couldn't sell or rent my house in Dallas, I got just the opposite impression last cycle ... they seemingly discouraged visiting.

Northeastern and Temple were really sweet, and spared me the grief I deserved over my indecisiveness.
Though it took me just over five and a half months to get into Fordham, I got a hand written message from the head of our admissions office with my official letter of admission. That was admittedly very cool. I also got cake (don't ask me how) when I rushed over with my seat deposit.
Note: Fordham can be quite fast if your numbers and major don't suck.

If a school gives me cake I'll enroll on the spot! I'm a cheap date.

Last cycle I had a great interactions with Penn State and Lewis & Clark.

Re: Admissions Office Shout-Outs
UVA has been the best so far. Quick turnarounds (since they are using a paperless system it seems to expedite things). Quick response to my fee waiver request (though my numbers were almost certainly auto-reject), and considered my application complete before receiving my signed ED agreement (I sent from abroad and sent a quick e-mail about it).
Their commitment to deciding ED applicants within 15 days of going complete is also wonderful. And, when the rejection did come, I got a nice e-mail from Jason Wu Trujillo. I can't blame them for the decision and they have been the best school to work with so far.
On the other side, GW flatly lied to my face about fee waivers. Said they only give them based on need in the e-mail response, though others on TLS seem to have gotten them on merit. When I called to inquire about changing my application to ED (after rejected ED at UVA), the guy I spoke to didn't give a name and it seemed like my call was bothersome. Told me just send an e-mail and all would be well. I sent it, asking for a response. We'll see if I get one.

I haven't applied to any schools yet, hopefully I will by the end of the month. But at the ATL forum, Alabama was by far the friendliest and most eager to answer any questions I had. SMU and Tulane were also pretty cool.

Super + = Cornell, Duke (The lady from Cornell that I spoke to was by far the nicest person I've had the pleasure of dealing with throughout the application process)
Super - = NYU, WUStl
- = GULC (I called inquiring about a waiver and a lady at the admissions office told me to send an e-mail. I asked for a turnaround time and she said 1-2 days...still no response)

For what it's worth, I haven't been in contact with NYU Law much, but having gone there as an undergrad, I have to say that everyone has been absolutely great whenever I've had a request for documentation, dean's statements, etc.
