Advantages:
a) No rent
b) Mom can make you breakfast
c) You're roommate can't tell everyone at your law school that you play WoW 10 hours a day

Disadvantages:
a) Long commute
b) Possibly not the least distracting place to get stuff done
c) Chicks don't dig it

Its a whole lot harder to have a social life involving new people. Plus, I'd have to hurry up and graduate so I could represent myself once I killed my mom (don't be offended, it would probably be in self-defense).

I am going to be as close to the law school I can get. I dont want any distractions between my and studying. Personal preference though.

especially 1L year, i feel like you need to be pretty close to your school and kind of away from your parents, both because of the stress of school itself and because it will help you form bonds with classmates that will be beneficial down the road (and obviously, fun). maybe after 1L year when you're familiar with the pace of school and already have a group of friends, if you're still concerned about the cost you could consider a move back home.
