Just wondering what the distribution of majors is like around here. Not sure if this is supposed to be in this forum, but I'm sure an admin will move it if its not.

I'm Accounting/Finance also taking alot of higher level French but not enough for a major.

[Edit] Making a poll. Tried to make general categories, hopefully didn't forget any major ones. (no pun) You have 3 votes in case of double or triple majors.

I guess you're limited in how many poll options you can have, but some of these really need to be separated from each other, like Philosophy and Poli Sci. I'm majoring in both of them and the difference is huge. The only similarity is that Poli Sci classes occasionally read basic philosophical works like the Apology. Then they start talking about their feelings or the government or something.

Philosophy. And I don't think that should be lumped in with poli sci. (Not that I'm snotty about it, they're just very different majors that require different skills.)

Business and Public Administration Dual.

I seriously cannot believe I did not open up a black hole by having majors which preach polar opposites.

Guys I understand that they are not alike, but niether are history and religion. Its just that I am trying to get a general idea of what kind of majors people have and with the limit of 10 poll options I had to make some semi-arbitrary groupings. I imagine that in order to analyze particular governmental structure one has to have atleast some background in political philosophy, which makes it good enough for me to lump those two together. Kind of like history and religion. To understand a religion one needs to be aware of historical context during which that religion originated etc. Hence History/Religion and Philosophy/Poli-Si. Same deal with math and engineering; and accounting and finance as a matter of fact.

Social Work, repin for the professional degrees.

This has been done before.

Oh and for what it's worth Philosophy and Religion are much closer than Philosophy and Poli Sci. History and Poli Sci are closer too.

And if you want to see a true geek fight, try telling a comp sci person they are the same as a IT person in MIS. Sadly, I see this type of nerdery on a daily basis at school.

I think if you're going to lump math and engineering together you should add computer science to the mix as well, but then again all engineering majors are so different.

Nice topic, I'm expecting lots of poli sci or history majors.

Why are philosophy and political science lumped together????????

I was a double major: philosophy and psychology.
