Dear TLS Members,

I have another great interview lined up with Andy Cornblatt, the Dean of Admissions for Georgetown Unversity Law Center. This interview was initiated by a TLS member attending Georgetown, so thank you for this. With the addition of this interview, TLS will have interviews with 11 of the top 20 law schools (several interviews have been taken or are in the process and will be posted soon such as Vanderbilt, Washington U. and many others).

Please post questions you would like to see in what is sure to be a very informative interview on one of the nation's top law schools. Best,

Ken

How do you feel about admitting veterans with degrees from online colleges? Do you take into account their lack of options?

Hey Ken,

It's awesome how quickly you've been adding more and more interviews lately. I know that TLS interviews usually consist of a "GPA trend" question, but could you also mention something about "excessive withdrawals?" I actually have a lot of Ws on my transcript...

Does Georgetown consider PT applicants that actually intend to work full-time during school more or less favorably than PT applicants that are just applying PT to increase their odds of admission?

If someone is applying PT and does intend on working during the entirety of law school, would it do them any favors to express their intent of doing so when applying to Georgetown?

Does Georgetown have any students either full or part-time with experience in the medical field? How does the admissions office feel about candidates with medical field experience compared to other fields?

Thank you.

I would love to know the answer to this question as well. There have been a lot of posts about this issue on TLS.

I'd like to hear a little more about housing/COL for Georgetown. I know they offer 1L on campus housing, but where do most people live after that? Georgetown is one of my top choices and I love D.C., but the cost of living is one of my biggest fears about attending.

RE: The Addiction Issue thread,

I would be very interested to find out how he would view the application of someone who had faced serious addiction issues (creating problems with work history) and is now working hard in his recovery and service to others. All assumming a respectable T20 UG GPA, LSAT score, LORs, and well written PS.

Other than the thread I started yesterday, I have never seen a question like this asked.

Many Thanks!

What effect does the ED application have on acceptance? Does it make it more likely?

How do they approach URM applications? (Is it true they wait longer to review them?)

What is their stance on charges that have been expunged from an applicant's record?

Also, what are the advantages of attending a law school that has such a large student body?

Due to the economy, I feel many applicants with job experience are now applying for a graduate degree. How much does work experience play in the application process. Can it make up for lower (25th percentile) GPA and LSAT numbers?

What are the advantages of being located in DC? What advantages does this provide students?

I too would like to know about ED. If you're barely squeeking into the 25% of both LSAT and GPA, what does it do for your chances?

What role does work experience play in admissions?

Is GPA given less weight if the applicant graduated more than 10 years ago?

Hey guys, I just wanted to bump this thread in hopes of getting a few more questions to ask Dean Cornblatt. We already have some great ones, but I'm sure there's some more out there just waiting to be asked. Feel free to ask more general questions about the school, campus, or the city as well. Even if you're not applying this cycle, but have something you're curious about and think others might be as well, go ahead and throw it out here, as I'm sure many people will have similar questions. Thanks!

1. Do you plan on drastically altering the admissions policy for your Part Time program in the wake of the news US News formula--like fellow D.C. law school George Washington--to ensure that Georgetown is not passed by Texas or UCLA?

2. Do you have any intention of decreasing the size of your incoming class to help increase the likelihood that your students will be able to find jobs?

Georgetown is sometimes said to be not very GLBT-friendly. How does Georgetown admissions view GLBT applicants, particularly in the context of an applicant being GLBT?

What is GLBT?

Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender. Sometimes, people flip the G and L around.

One more question.

I know Georgetown is splitter friendly, but how does Georgetown view academic disciplines such as probation, academic dismissal etc. that resulted in a low GPA?
