what's the point of the thread? either you get a fee waiver or you don't. if you do, then you'll know when you got it, if you don't then just eat the $70 app fee or don't apply.

Part of the reason I'm updating the thread is just so I can know what fee waivers are already out there. There's a few safety schools I'd like to apply to, but only if I get a fee waiver. Also, if I know that no fee waivers have gone out, I might hold off on submitting an application to see if I get one.

Im thinking they dont send out all the fee waivers at the same time. Because I've gotten mine on different dates, than the ones that are posted. I just got William and Mary and Georgetown today. Apparently others got them earlier, and I didn't change or update anything. So if you didn't get one, it still might be coming.

You do not need to have your LSDAS GPA to get most fee waivers. However, no one here knows the exact systems that each of the schools employ. We DO know that people have received fee waivers with just an LSAT score.

Take the LSAT. Sign up for LSDAS. Wait for fee waivers.

Fee waivers can come via mail, email, or LSDAS. The LSDAS ones are "undercover" waivers - they just show up when you add the school to your LSDAS profile.

With all school-given fee waivers, you will still need to pay the $12 processing fee to LSDAS.

Some schools offer needs-based waivers. There is another thread discussing that. (These are schools willing to waive app fee if you can show financial hardship.)

Did you self-report your GPA?

thank you.

follow-up questions: so, these fee waivers may show up or be mailed or emailed only after you've taken the LSAT? do they show up automatically? what happens if you applied before the fee waivers became available?

i know these questions all sound utterly stupid, but i'm a complete n00b in this scene.

You need to tick the box for the Candidate Referral Service as well when you sign up for your LSAC account... I think, I've never done it :?

Good point - I forgot that.

Dijon: I am almost positive they come up ONLY after you've taken the LSAT and the score has been reported (If fee waiver -> taken LSAT and score reported). Does anyone else have counter-evidence?

As the quote above says, you need to sign up for the CRS on the LSDAS website. Schools can then look through your information and determine whether or not they want to send a fee waiver. Schools generally send them in batches, meaning they'll send a big group of fee waivers then another big group later.

If you apply before waivers are sent out, you may not receive a fee waiver that you otherwise would have. If I remember correctly, some people actually request a waiver after the fact, but I am not sure how to do that tactfully. (This may be for financial needs people again.)

I won't lie, I don't know what a modifier is.

Question: Is an "invitation to apply" email the same thing as a fee waiver? I received the former from GULC a few weeks ago. I figured I would ask here before I emailed the admissions counselor 8)

Unfortunately, I don't think so. My Georgetown email specifically said "We're waiving your application fee" at the end of a paragraph. That said, there's no harm in emailing/calling and asking for one. I'm sure they'll give one to you.
