This must be an older list, Rutgers College is now defunct.

Oh and take that average student everywhere!

However, for all of the 5% blocks from 45-74, there are 4,5, or 6 percent of students. Unfortunately, the bottom is stronger than the top - 27% in the 0-19 bracket. Ugh. At least our median GPA is a not terribly inflated 3.24.
Yeah, ours is a 3.38... it's all the premed kids that do it to us. I wonder what our mean mcat score is... probably ridiculous.

Colorado College is a 159, and the median undergrad GPA is a 3.02. If the dance department didn't have an average of 3.7+, I'm sure that'd be below 3.

Haha, this is how I feel sometimes, but then I remember that I am being elitist trash. Really it should be 165+.
This is not a joke. Do you want to widdle away your future with trash from the likes of UC Santa Cruz or, dare I say, Rutgers? I'm not planning on paying this much to attend law school to have to look at what looks like should be in a toilet bowl! Once I get into Harvard, I'm going to make sure there is no toilet trash present, otherwise I'm going elsewhere. Perhaps Yale uses a better straining mechanism?

I went to Texas (UT-Austin) and I'm interested to see what happens in 3 to 4 years now that the top 10% rule has been changed in the university's favor. I predict a 2/3 point jump the first year a non-top-ten-percent class is graduating.

(For those of you who don't know, the state of Texas had a law for many years that said anyone who graduates in the top 10% of their high school class was granted automatic admission to any public university, no matter their other credentials. It caused UT's class size to blow up exponentially, because why on earth would you go to anywhere but the best public university in the state if you had your pick of all of them, and also let in many really, really stupid people. You could have an 800 on the SAT and state law mandated that the university accepted you. It was ridiculous. The law has now been changed, and I'm anxious to see what happens).

California does it too. top 10% law was ok in my book. Unlike you, I value diversity.

Wow. I've never seen this report before. I didn't even know I had access to it. Found some interesting stuff.

I transferred after my Freshman year from USC to Claremont McKenna College. I knew I was moving up in the academic world, but I didn't know how much. I also suspected that the students at Claremont were smarter, but I didn't know how much smarter.

LSAT

USC Mean LSAT: 156

CMC Mean LSAT: 162

My LSAT: 167

I'm sure that part of it might be selection bias, but that's a major gap. This doesn't necessarily prove that CMC students are more intelligent than USC students, but along with my wealth of anecdotal evidence, it's another brick in the wall, and a sizable one at that. While I'm part of the 23% plurality of CMC students who scored at the 95th percentile or above, I'm likely part of a substantially smaller 95th+ percentile group at USC undergrad (though I don't have those numbers on my report).

GPA

USC Mean GPA: 3.32

CMC Mean GPA: 3.47

My USC/CMC/Cum GPA: 3.80/3.58/3.63

Wow. This is where it gets interesting. CMC's average GPA is 0.15 higher than USC's average GPA, so it stands that it should be easier, right? Not in my experience. I recognize that most of my courses at USC were lower division, but I took some upper division courses while there, and I took plenty of lower division courses at CMC. More importantly, I worked substantially harder at CMC to get the grades that I got, even though they were lower. This leads me to believe that against smarter competition, I was out-gunned and landed lower on the totem pole, while against weaker competition, I could put in comparatively less effort and still find myself towards the top.

On its face, the moral of the story appears to be that if I had stayed at USC, I would probably have a much higher GPA and be going to a better-ranked law school than... USC. Of course, what that fails to take into account is that my Freshman year at USC was the most miserable of my life and that transferring to CMC was the best decision I've made in 24 years.

The real irony is that CMC accepted me the first time around and I turned them down for USC. *facepalm*

hate to burst your TEXAS pride, but it hasn't been changed as drastically as you think it has.

Without getting into the logistics, it's ~ to top 8%.

I had many great times at Gustavus, a perennial top-100 liberal arts college (at least before they stopped requiring a standardized test). http://www.gac.edu
