I'm sorry US News, but these ranking just seem to validate everyones suspicion that they are not a valid measure of a school's worth and are mostly arbitrary.

There is no way George Washington and Boston College are not top 25 schools.
Indiana U a top 25? Alabama a top 30? These are solid state schools to be sure, but there is no reason they should be ranked where they are based on national recognition and placement.

Ken… or someone smart enough and willing to do it should put together a law school ranking system which reflects national recognition and placement. This is what students want to know when they look at rankings – not (outside of a few) the scholarly productivity of a faculty and the number of volumes in the library. National recognition and placement please. Because looking at this system a student might pick Indiana U over Boston College or George Washington and then be sorely disappointed come time to search for that job in New York or DC.

I cannot even begin to say how happy I am that Boalt remained in the #6 slot.

Because you love Berkeley or because you are still considering attending (or both)?

apparently they've found a way to penalize schools with lax p/t acceptance policies which is why gw dropped like a stone...i just wonder why the same didnt occur to gtown. i guess gw got caught red handed using p/t as a $ maker. So much for me going to a t-20 lol

Gotta say the PA thing does not surprise me. Still happy I picked Temple over PSU for the Philly connection which I think trumps an arbitrary ranking based on the building/library volumes held.

I'm kind of gobbsmacked! I'm waitlisted at Texas right now so I'm making a decision between Houston and Baylor. I had zero idea that Houston was that high in the rankings and now is ranked above Baylor. I thought Baylor was the second best law school in the state of Texas...I don't know how much trust I'm putting in the US News rankings...

Any one else have thoughts on this? Although I know most people are interested in the more well known schools on the list...

In addition to that, American actually moved up one spot considering the inclusion of their PT program.

So much for the "rising star" that is GMU. -7 spots in 2 years is a pretty poor showing.

Welp, picking UC-Davis over GW just got a whoooole lot easier. Thanks, USNews.

b/c I love Berkeley so much and hate when people bash it on TLS cause they believe it's not worthy of being #6. I think that if Stanford wasn't cheaper to attend, the decision would be a very tough one b/c they both have unique charms that appeal to me differently.

Meh... I never bought into the GMU "rising star" BS. Its the 3rd best state school in Virginia, how far can it rise? Even though they talk big, I don't see how they could overtake W+M. W+M is much much better known, etc.

For those of us out here in the northwest, Lewis and Clark made huge jump, U of Oregon moved up 5 (I think) and look at Gonzaga breaking into the top 100! Almost makes me regret withdrawing from GU.

Any guesses why LC is so much higher than UorO? People love Portland? Applicants with high LSAT/GPAs choosing it because of the environmental law/animal law programs?

Wow, IU-I dropping 19 spots will make it much easier for me to decline their offer if I don't receive any scholarship money (and I'm not expecting any).

Rankings are trash. They should only be based on NYC biglaw prospects, the only thing that matters.

Thats why rankings are just to give you a general guideline. Your not suppose to follow them like that.

TITCR :)

But in reality Fordham places like a top 20 (or top 18 school). I think some other people might agree with me when I say this should be reflected at least a little bit more in the rankings.
