Some schools are like the town slut - they take anybody - which makes you feel like a big piece of shit when they reject you.

Yes! Columbia's practice of sending out fee waivers and brochures to anybody with a pulse reminds me of those super hot girls who will flirt with guys who are obviously beneath them just to boost their own ego.

I guess that makes me the guy who ends up with the ugly girl because she offered to cook for me and do my laundry.

I win. 8)

In a way you do win...because with time hotness fades away...but having a school/woman who is by your side and cooks for you is forever

and when you're still not clear on who wants you, you spend each day checking your 'status'. You also wonder if you should've considered others, just in case!

Maybe it's just me, but I wish dating as more like the law school admissions process for me. >_>

Seriously. What is the counterpart to a 170+ LSAT score in this extended metaphor?

The counterpart is being a heartbreaker...portal is a ladies man in htis metaphor, he's that guy who walks into a room and all the girls want him, he's the one who has the pick...women/schools want him...we want to be him...

Now Whitty is a real life example of a girl who has her pick of men...shes the counterpart to the coveted schools in my metaphor...she would be a great trophy wife to portal...

i think the two experiences are actually relatively similar for me. girls either meet me in one setting and go, "whoa, that guy's weird", but then they realize I'm awesome after a while. kinda like the schools that see my gpa first. other girls see me at a party and are like, "ooh". Then they figure out i'm weird too. kinda like the schools that look at my LSAT.

It's pretty similar for me. As a splitter, where I hit is pretty unpredictable. I can pull some pretty good schools if I get lucky, but I might also strike out. My experiences in dating have been fairly similar.

When I look at Enygma's post, I wonder if this isn't something that a lot of splitters experience.

And just like law admissions, sometimes you meet the girl of your dreams in high school and your grades tank as you pine hopelessly away and write hundreds of pages of teen angst poetry but things don't work out and you spend the next 6 years wondering what might have been until you finally see her again and realize that you have no feelings for her and it was just puppy love but still get slightly offended when she doesn't invite you to her birthday parties.

I don't think I've ever met a girl who had been rejected by a guy. I didn't even think it was possible.

Then again, going to a college with a 3:1 guy/girl ratio will warp your perspectives...

You must have gone to a tech school.

I didn't. And this is why I have been able to witness women getting rejected by men. Although it doesn't happen all that often.

Sadly, yes. The story of my life, really. The ratio at my high-school was 60-40, and at my college was 72-28 (90-10 in my major). I have never seen a girl get rejected. Even incredibly homely girls I knew had at least two guys after them.
