Every day at work I contemplate just walking out and never going back.
Haven't done it yet, though...

3 hours left, 2 of which will be spent drinking beer on the company dime.

I approached my boss directly about laying me off a month ago. I told him it was be an easy decision since laying me off meant someone else with a family and/or mortage would be saved. I also added that the severence would be just a side benefit for me.

lol... did you leap to your feet and shake everyone's hand when they told you you were laid off? did you reassure your fellow laid off colleagues that everything would be okay with a huge grin on your face while they wept?
enjoy the severance, hopefully it's not being paid out with my tax money

Re: So, anybody ready to quit their jobs yet?
My post from the rant of day thread, but it applies here too:
I want out!!!
It's shit like this that make me so pissed. I am always his target for no reason at all, because he knows I am smart, hard-working and plan to be better than him (he is a very senior paralegal). I asked a couple co-workers, and he has never given them a hard time about calling in sick.....Sick days are sick days right?
In 1.5 years as a DC paralegal, I have never called in sick. Today, I have a fever, I call in sick, and my boss is giving me shit for it via email! Is this acceptable work practice? To be given a hard time for being sick? Unbelievable.
I want out!!!

Sneeze all over his keyboard when you return to work and then mock him when he's out for a week with the flu. Staying home when you're sick is a courtesy to others, not just for yourself.

Re: So, anybody ready to quit their jobs yet?
Does he know you're leaving? I've definitely known people that tried to use all of their sick days after giving notice even though they weren't sick. They got a lot of crap for it, and I could see how someone might assume you are doing the same thing. It's stupid and you should stay home if you're sick, but I think it's also awful to take a whole bunch of sick days after you give notice (especially if you only give two weeks).
Either way, he has no right to give you any crap, but maybe there's a reason for it at least.

Re: So, anybody ready to quit their jobs yet?
He does know I am leaving, but not until the end of July. He knew I was sick yesterday at work, so he has no reason to doubt me. I thought about leaving early yesterday because I was sick, but ended up stickin' it out.... I guess I could understand it if he didn't know I was sick.penni_rose wrote:Does he know you're leaving? Re: So, anybody ready to quit their jobs yet?
I have this gut feeling that my firm is thinking about laying me off.... I've been told to get all my cases caught up and start training someone on my largest case next week so they can transition to it soon. And, I was removed from another large case I helped out on consistently...... But, I don't leave until the end of July. So, I dont know what is going on/why the rush.

You should be praying to be laid off. You'll get unemployment and heavily subsidized COBRA.

Re: So, anybody ready to quit their jobs yet?
My last day of work is one month from today. Between July 17th and law school starting I'll be going on a trip with friends, relaxing at home, packing, moving to Ithaca and getting in a last month of fun before I buckle down.
I feel really bad because I've just completely zoned out during work. I just browse the internet and pretend that I'm working on important things. I like my coworkers and like my bosses and like the work I do, I just don't seem capable of concentrating. All I can think about is getting the hell out of this stupid office.
Here's to next month.

I feel the exact same way. I was trying to stay until August 3 so I could keep my benefits for August, but there is no way that I can make it. There is a very good chance that I'll make July 17 my last day.Other25BeforeYou wrote: I feel really bad because I've just completely zoned out during work.
