Is "weak consider" no longer an option or am I just awesome?

Re: Law School Predictor: Version 2.6 released Oct. 04, 2009
I apologize in advance if this has been answered or if this is a dumb question. The LSP site says that decision estimates are based on the 08-09 cycle. If that is the case, how come the site doesn't use penn's 25th/75th percentiles for that class (c/o 2012)? Seems like using a previous class' percentiles with data from 08-09 cycle would skew things.

oh wait my bad I think i misread that. You're using 08-09 to check the accuracy of the predictions based on 07-08, right?

Why does it have me as "Deny" for NYU, but "Consider" for Stanford?

So even though I didn't trigger the splitter thing for NYU, being 46% at the "% at/below" mark isn't enough for me to get even a weak consider?YCrevolution wrote:You trigger the splitter algorithm for Stanford, but not NYU. It's a little blunt and drastic right now, and I'll work on fine-tuning it.Helmholtz wrote:Why does it have me as "Deny" for NYU, but "Consider" for Stanford?

I agree that the splitter algorithm seems strangely sensitive to 1 or 2 point changes in lsat. for berkley the algorithm seems to be far too kind to high lsat/low gpa.

Re: Law School Predictor: Version 2.6 released Oct. 04, 2009
the problem is that schools such as yale, stanford, berkley shouldn't have a positive splitter algorithm, if anything below a 3.6 it should be negative. overall the splitter algorithm seems far too kind for 177+ lsat and sub 3.65 gpa for hys + boalt. For example, I just don't see a 177 3.5 standing a decent chance at boalt, let alone fit as an assumed "admit". A 3.54 and a 178 is also an admit for Harvard but LSN shows that is almost certain to be a wl/out.

why did i suddenly become an admit a uc davis when no one got in with my numbers on LSN. Also, how is residency taken into account. People with my numbers get into wisconsin if they are residents, but i don't think they do if they are from out of state.

I'm playing around with the PT programs and EDs. It doesn't do anything when I select an ED, ( whether I wiggle my stats or not).

Re: Law School Predictor: Version 2.6 beta released Oct. 4, 2009
Not sure if something's off again now - Cornell for example, at 3.23/168 I had been weak consider now was deny, which is fine, but when I went to 171/3.23 I jumped to Admit, also admit at places like UCLA, Duke if it's 173/3.23 now says admit, which is still iffy I think due to GPA - the previous patch seemed about on for my numbers at least, maybe these are fine, just seem kind of optimistic maybe
EDIT: Checked some more, def seems too positive now, Yale jumped to Consider at 178/3.23, as did Stanford, and Columbia went Strong Conisder

This is def. awesome --
Just a quick note though, if you do 3.7/177 - Harvard says admit; if you do 3.8/177 - Harvard is strong consider. I'm sure there are other examples of this.
I agree that Berkeley and Stanford are definitely too optimistic for high LSAT/low gpa. If anything, it should be the other way around.
