Man of my word

Post by MaxCherry » Mon Mar 05, 2007 8:33 pm

I got my first rejection letter today, so I quickly typed out my Rejection Letter Rejection Letter.

It's time to see if those Kentuckians have a sense of humor.

It is UK.

I will assume that if I don't get a letter back explaining that I am a dumbass that they have at least a slight sense of humor. If it serves no other purpose, it did make me feel a little better about the situation.

You're a good man, Max Cherry.

I think the karma from sending this rejection letter will get you at least 5 extra acceptances.

From them:
Dear ME,

The UK College of Law Admissions Committee, of which I am chair, is now reviewing application files, including yours, for our fall 2007 entering class.

Your application for admission to the fall 2007 class of the College of Law has been reviewed in full and considered carefully by the Committee. I am sorry to report that we will not be able to grant you admission to our entering class for the fall term. This decision was made after a complete and careful review of all of the credentials that you submitted.

As you are probably aware, admission to law school is extremely competitive. While there were many good points in your file, our Admissions Committee did not believe that you would be a competitive candidate in our admissions process this year. I would encourage you to apply to other law schools, if you have not done so already. We do appreciate your interest in our College, and we wish you the best in your future endeavors.
To Them:
Dear UK Admissions Committee,

I am now reviewing rejection letters, including yours, for the fall 2007 semester.

I have reviewed your rejection letter, and after carefully considering it, I am sorry to report that I will not be able to accept your rejection. This decision was made after a complete and careful review.

This rejection is no reflection on your rejection letter. As you are probably aware, rejection letters are extremely commonplace this time of year, and I am receiving many of them this application cycle. While your rejection letter is excellent in some aspects, I do not believe that it is competitive in my rejection process this cycle. I encourage you to continue rejecting other candidates, and I will see you at orientation.

Sincerely,
ME

I could so see this ploy actually working once, but then word would get out (via TLS, etc.) and then next year admissions councils would be flooded with replica witty rejection rejections, causing law school administrations to grind to a slow, gritty halt

orrr they would stop sending out rejections all together in fear of rejection rejection letters hurting their fragile self esteems in which case everyone would be accepted everywhere and Max will have revolutionized the legal industry... that is probably what will come of this.

I hate the generic rejection letters schools give out with something along these lines. I would love to see someone with a LSAT of 130 and a 2.0GPA apply to Yale and see what they get in their rejection letter.

Now, I just have to hope that the adcomms share our sense of humor.

How can they not find that hilarious? If it works at UK, will you try it everywhere else? If you don't hear from UK, will you send it to other places anyway?

If I hear from UK, either positively or negatively, it will go EVERYWHERE, but if I don't hear back from UK, I will probably not waste the stamps to send it everywhere. Georgetown and Yale will definitely get a copy tailored to the letter they send me, but I'll probably limit my begging to them since those are really the two school I WANT to attend.

I wouldn't have sent that to UK, but I promised that I would send it to the first school that rejected me. Luck of the draw made it UK.

Max, if you're willing to send it to every school you get rejected from, I will personally provide the stamps.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
