You can try this:
http://www.lawpad.com/gpa_calculator/
As far as I can tell it seems to be accurate.

Is an LSDAS A- a 3.7? I always thought that it was calculated as a 3.66. Anyone have any further insight on this?

It's a 3.67. Go here for the conversion table.BiglawAmbitions wrote:Is an LSDAS A- a 3.7? I always thought that it was calculated as a 3.66. Anyone have any further insight on this?

Re: LSDAS GPA
i go to a university that does not do letter grades as final grades on transcripts, like we do not do A-F, we do a numerical system of 4.0-0.0 . since on the transcripts the law schools i will be applying to will not see what actual percent i got (like a 4.0 varies per class, there is no university standard. it means most likely you got a 92-100% in the class) how will university be able to adjust my GPA to their standards? does anyone else go to a university that doesn't do letter grades either?

Re: LSDAS GPA
Is the LSDAS GPA looked at more than the UG GPA. I ask because my gpa in community college was 3.95 and my gpa at Columbia was 2.79...my LSDAS GPA is 3.33. Is 3.33 the gpa schools will look at?

Yes, the LSDAS GPA (3.33) is what they'll look at.danceon2 wrote:Is the LSDAS GPA looked at more than the UG GPA. I ask because my gpa in community college was 3.95 and my gpa at Columbia was 2.79...my LSDAS GPA is 3.33. Is 3.33 the gpa schools will look at?

Re: LSDAS GPA
LSAC does all of the grade adjustment. Go to my post above, click on the link to the LSAC's conversion chart, and see which type of grading most parallels your school's. If it's none of the above, e-mail LSAC.azorbust wrote:i go to a university that does not do letter grades as final grades on transcripts, like we do not do A-F, we do a numerical system of 4.0-0.0 . since on the transcripts the law schools i will be applying to will not see what actual percent i got (like a 4.0 varies per class, there is no university standard. it means most likely you got a 92-100% in the class) how will university be able to adjust my GPA to their standards? does anyone else go to a university that doesn't do letter grades either?

what the heck is a AB? a 3.5 then they give you what score because it says nothing next to the bar when the LSAC gives you points next to every other score except anything in the 4.0-0.0 scale that ends in .5 . i have 18 credits listed as a 3.5, does that mean i should give 9 to A- and 9 to B+ to break it up? if i do, then i have the same overall GPA that i have for UG, but if i give all 18 credits to either B+, then it's lower, all 18 credits to A-, then it's higher...this is confusing lol

Re: LSDAS GPA
The column on the left is what LSAC reports grades as. It takes whatever information on the right and converts it to fit on that column. So, if you have an AB, LSAC will give it a 3.5.azorbust wrote:what the heck is a AB? a 3.5 then they give you what score because it says nothing next to the bar when the LSAC gives you points next to every other score except anything in the 4.0-0.0 scale that ends in .5 . i have 18 credits listed as a 3.5, does that mean i should give 9 to A- and 9 to B+ to break it up? if i do, then i have the same overall GPA that i have for UG, but if i give all 18 credits to either B+, then it's lower, all 18 credits to A-, then it's higher...this is confusing lol

Re: LSDAS GPA
no i think you're confused on what im saying. i am saying i have a 3.5, and ya i know that means i have a "AB", but when i tried to use this LSAC converter scale (http://www.lawpad.com/gpa_calculator/) i have to chose where to throw the credits, in either under A- or B+ since i can't do both at the same time. this is where i am confused because isn't this gpa converter link almost the same thing the LSAC is going use too? they say a B+ is a 87-89 (3.33), then AB is nothing (3.5) then A- is 90-92 (3.67) and since my university doesn't have a set grading policy (profs can chose how they want to grade their classes, once class might make a A- down to 88% or make a A- a 93%) i am confused on what the LSAC is going to do.Derek wrote:The column on the left is what LSAC reports grades as. Re: LSDAS GPA
The only problem with the LSAC GPA Calculator website is that it apparently assigns a 4.3 for an A+. The scale in LSAC's pamphlet shows an A+ as 4.33

This is pretty annoying for someone who goes to a school where a grade of A+ isn't possible....

Re: LSDAS GPA
I went to a school that graded on the 4.0 system. My LSDAS GPA was exactly what it was at school.azorbust wrote:i go to a university that does not do letter grades as final grades on transcripts, like we do not do A-F, we do a numerical system of 4.0-0.0 . since on the transcripts the law schools i will be applying to will not see what actual percent i got (like a 4.0 varies per class, there is no university standard. it means most likely you got a 92-100% in the class) how will university be able to adjust my GPA to their standards? does anyone else go to a university that doesn't do letter grades either?
