character and fitness

Post by Shelby » Fri Oct 19, 2018 6:37 pm

Hi everyone,

I was in a minor traffic accident (rear ended someone on the freeway) in 2014, and it resulted in a ticket for following too close, which is classified as a moving violation in my state.

I would not even consider including such a minor experience for character and fitness (yes, I am aware this is extremely trivial), but I did go to court to get the ticket dismissed and some of the character and fitness questions are extremely general, so I'm not sure if I should err on the side of full disclosure and just include it.

Any help would be appreciated!

You should read the C&F questions very closely and carefully. If there is any doubt, err on the side of overdisclosure. You won't be dinged by any adcom for having a run-of-the-mill traffic ticket on your record, but you could run into trouble down the road if, e.g., the question asked you to disclose "any citation" or something broad along those lines, but you omitted this ticket because you thought it was too minor to bother.
