How much will ROTC/National Guard experience help with law school admissions?

Post by drworm14 » Tue Oct 02, 2018 7:32 pm

I am applying to law school this fall/spring, and am commissioning as an Army Second Lieutenant in the National Guard in May. I was wondering how much of an advantage this might confer in the admissions process. For all of the schools I'm applying to, my LSAT is at the 75th% or above, but my UGPA is just below the 25th% (I have a 3.41 UGPA and have been scoring 166-168 on LSAT diagnostics). I plan on applying to Georgetown and Cornell, as my "big reaches", as well as schools where I feel I have a much better chance. To what extent can I expect the "intangible" of ROTC/National Guard service to compensate for poor grades? Any response is appreciated, thanks
