Recommendation Question

Post by lawprospective » Thu Aug 30, 2018 4:12 pm

I graduated college/university in 2016, and spent a year abroad on a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship. I came back to the States and have been at the same job since. I asked for a recommendation at my current job, and I asked for one from a prof in college/university. Should my third rec be from college/university as well or should I ask for a rec from my Fulbright year? I'm only asking because the Fulbright would be non-academic, and I don't know if I'm far enough removed from college/university to not have two academic recs. Don't know if anyone has been in a similar situation, but I would appreciate any and all advice!

Look at each school's policy re academic recs - I think it varies school to school. If there's no policy, then I don't think there's any harm in just having two recs. Better to have two strong recs than two strong recs plus one middling rec. (I only had two recs and did fine in my cycle.)
