UNC Residency Reclassification

Post by korn » Tue May 22, 2018 9:28 pm

I am currently between UNC and Wake. I can't really justify UNC for 2 or 3 years OOS, even if I liked the school/town way more than Wake/Winston-Salem. From what I've heard, it's rather difficult to get in state status in North Carolina. I know someone who was denied in state status solely on OOS parent financial contribution, which is a concern for me. If I choose UNC, I'm planning on moving to NC early July and getting a drivers license/voter card/etc. Have any of you had experience with or know of someone who had issues with getting in state at UNC? Any tips? Thanks!

Its really difficult to get instate for NC. I believe you have to be in NC for a year before the start of classes, but I could be wrong.
