Resume Question

Post by josephrobinette » Thu Oct 20, 2016 11:21 am

Currently 5 months into my gap year. Since May, I've been working a pretty menial job (minimum wage front desk type of stuff) 4 days a week because I wanted to focus primarily on LSAT prep. In September, I started volunteering at an org helping newly settled refugees write resumes/apply for jobs/practice interviewing.

My question is - do I include both to avoid a resume gap, or do I omit the job since it's not going to add anything impressive to my app? Is any work experience good work experience? I do have a lot of previous work experience from while I was in school, as well.

I wouldn't include the less impressive job on your resume if you have other work experience (because your resume should be highlights, not a total work history). You need to include it in your work history form anyway, so they'll see there's been no gap.
