No LSAC is incredibly stingy. They have to waive it if LSAC does so that wouldn't even be a question herepleasesendhelp wrote:Did you get approved for fee waivers from LSAC and Columbia still didn't waive the fee?taxman14 wrote:See that's bizarre though because I had fee waivers from every T14 and was able to get need-based fee waivers from HYS. So Columbia was the one outlier - no clue what happened there and they were totally biatches about negotiating or being open to need-based or even pulling through CRS. Whatever - shame I had to waste $115 thoughashrice13 wrote:I think that schools just don't send them out to people who are far above their medians. I don't think it's necessarily that they are going for a decreased acceptance rate...it's probably also that they can only send out so many fee waivers and they aren't going to set them to every single person who scored from their 25th all the way up to 4.0/180. They need to cut it off somewhere.taxman14 wrote:very interesting haha I took mine last December and have > 75ths in both but no fee waiver haha, so you're probably right?curry4bfast wrote:Back in June and only a 166, but a GPA above their 75th. Pretty surprised, but its probably an attempt to decrease their acceptance rate.taxman14 wrote:Just curious when did you take the LSAT / what did you get?curry4bfast wrote:Received unsolicited from Columbia this morning.
I've concluded this after conducting a completely unbiased and totally scientific study on myself wherein I didn't get fee waivers from anyone that I was over both 75ths for (except for TTT schools).

Any one has a spare GULC fee waiver code to give? The application fee is way too expensive for me to afford, and I didn't solicit succesfully. (I have CLS, Michigan, UVA etc.)

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, not a US citizen and thus unqualified for basically any need-based stuff.hellohalo wrote:I got a need-based waiver... I was offered a fee waiver by GULC last cycle (didn't apply to any schools last year) irronically.

I'm a non-citizen. International applicants are eligible for need based waivers. They are not federal support.
I got rejected by BU, GULC and cornell on merit waivers. I then filled need based forms. I got all.

Forward them the fee waiver from last year with a really nice note saying "I received this last cycle. I tried using it this cycle but it doesn't seem to be working. May I please have another..." Works for some schools but Gtown seems to be randomly stingy with fee waivers even when you have good numbers

Re: Unsolicited Fee Waivers 2017
My stats are 156 LSAT, 3.68, URM
Unsolicited Fee Waivers (Top 20):
Michigan
UPenn
Others:
Idaho
Houston
Michigan State
Iowa
I registered with CRS about 2 or 3 weeks ago.
I am pretty confused by the Michigan and UPenn unsolicited fee waivers, as they both came with encouraging emails and admissions packets sent to my house. Maybe they want to keep their admit rate low, but I applied to them anyways.

Me too on 11/30. It was totally out of the blue. Is there any rhyme or reason that yall know about for the timing of the fee waiver emails? Nothing significant has occurred since the September LSAT. Are they getting less applicants right now than at the same point in time last year?Leliana wrote:Just got unsolicited from Minnesota.

Of the schools I'm considering, I've so far received NYU, Columbia, Cornell, Michigan, UCLA, Penn, and Duke.
U Chicago is killing me but I can't wait any longer so I'm applying now. Uuuugh, my poor wallet.

Unsolicited Michigan today also. Finally. Above both 75ths. Looks like I'll be able to throw an app their way, after all. Woo!

I'm now in the heart of my cycle and I still didn't receive a single unsolicited waiver from T14. I did two years ago from a number of schools, not sure why this is happening but it must have to do with re applicant status right?

Super late to this thread as I'm pretty late in my cycle but here are my fee waivers and decisions so far for those that are curious. Stats are 166, 3.83
Solicited:

Penn (Haven't heard back)
Berkely (Asked for a fee waiver, said no, got unsolicited later)
Duke (Accepted)
UVA (Haven't heard back)
Vanderbilt(Accepted)
BC (Accepted)
USC (Accepted)
Wash U (Haven't heard back)
Michigan (Haven't heard back)
