Hearing back
I apologize if this question is annoying, but: is there a rhyme or reason to people getting rejected before you even if you applied around when they did? Based on my own acceptances/wls I've understood lsat plays a role in how quickly you'll hear back for positive things, but what about negatives? Is there any reason someone would be held on so long rather than to just let them go quickly? I'm not selling myself short here, some schools I've applied to I'm really just not competitive at besides some really unique softs in my professional experience, and that's okay with me; this waiting, however, is kind of painful lol.

I don't even know what to say about Chicago and Zuck's 13 month wait. Je-sus!
Anyway...OP, it's simple. School's have auto-reject parameters in order to save time. If you've made it through some blood-lettings, it could mean a few things:
1. Your app has been assigned to someone who works a little more slowly than other staff in the office.
2. You are not an auto-reject and good news could be coming.
3. You are not an auto-reject and bad news is coming.
Either way, just be happy for every day you are still in the game. When they are ready to do you, they'll do you, whether its admit, deny, or WL.

Re: Hearing back
I was waitlisted somewhere along the way but yeah, 13 months
No real reason to let people off the hook early. Just like applicants apply to backup schools they would never attend, schools leave applicants they would never actually accept hanging on for months.
Or they're just slow for a bunch of potential reasons.
