Consequences of the the December Lsat?

Postby BuyaLittleMercy » Tue Feb 02, 2016 2:07 am

This coming year I am considering making my last go at the LSAT, aiming for a very high score that I know is personally achievable, but will be an intense challenge. However, lsac seems to only be administering tests in late September, early December, and February. December would offer two more months of prep time, a quite valuable quantity. However, receiving my score in mid-late December would obviously delay my application.

So my question is, as I consider my options, does anyone have an opinion on how much impact the later application would have on my admission chances at top schools? Would it be such a handicap as to be make the December test a poor decision (at least if I were to apply that cycle, as opposed to the next fall)?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

Taking in December is fine, but really dude it's only February 1st. You have plenty of time until June and an eternity until September. The best part is that if things don't go as planned you can take again sometime in the future. Don't rush this.

I appreciate the input. This would be my third test though, so no more later attempts for quite a while. Also, to clarify, in my eyes the months seem quite important, as the points movement I'm looking for are from the mid 170s to high 170s. The longer I have the better. So December submission won't significantly impact admission chances?

No, but

1) no more attempts for a while just means sitting out a year. Not the end of the world

2) moving up in the 170's is hard but not worth killing yourself over. If you fire up the studying now you'd be back in peak form by March. Waiting a while isn't going to change anything at that point
