Hello
I went to the University of Toronto as an undergrad. For whatever reason, an 85 and up is an A and a 4.0 there. 80-84 is an A- and 3.7, 70s are the B range, etc. So I'm wondering if my GPA will end up being scaled down a full point (i.e. from 3.2 to 2.2) as it goes through the LSAC analysis. This would obviously be detrimental to my chances at getting into a good school. So, if this is going to happen, my follow up question is should I attach an addendum with my unofficial transcript from the school stating that I have a 3.2 according to them?

I think they only use the letter grade for calculating your UGPA so the number conversion shouldn't matter. I also think when you submit a transcript you can see what your gpa will report as. As far as addendum goes, idk.

UofT alum here. They exclusively use letter grades. Anything above an 85 will be a 4.33, and 80-85 will be a 4.0. Unless your transcript is all minus-grades (since the 3.7 becomes 3.67, etc), your GPA for US schools will be greater than your GPA as calculated by UofT. (My 3.9 at UofT became a 3.97 for LSAC...if you have no A+'s, the LSAC GPA will be functionally identical to your UofT GPA).

Edit -- as reminded below, it's 90+ 4.33, 85-89 4.0, 80-84 3.67

Just got my academic summary report from U of t. Essentially the same GPA around 3.2ish however above 90 is a 4.33 85-90 is a 4.0 80-85 is a 3.67.

They are still processing my transcript...glad to hear I won't be in for any terrible surprises.
