Wait for a better GPA?

Post by Sweetneers » Thu Oct 22, 2015 8:43 pm

Question: I have a 157 LSAT, and a current LSAC/UGPA of 2.83. I think I can pull off a 3.0+ following this semester. Should I wait to send them until after the semester is over, or should I go ahead and do it now? What will give me better chances?

Obviously a 3.0 looks better on an app than a 2.8. I doubt you're going to gain anything by applying before you get your fall grades. However, you may want to make sure that you're not going to get blindsided by the difficulty of law school and/or not being able to get a job.

Frankly, a 2.8/157 is tough sledding if you plan on getting a decent paying job with your JD. You're gonna struggle to find a school that has good job prospects, and you're going to struggle to pay anything but sticker price for that tough sledding.

Tell us about yourself. Why law school? What's your undergrad major? What do you want to do with a JD?
