1. Only if a law degree is the cheapest and fastest way to get that promotion. It would have to be a pretty big promotion to make up for three years of lost income plus cost of attendance. Look into executive MBAs or something.

I'd say 165+ makes Harvard more likely than not. But she should really be looking at MPA programs if she wants administration firstly and law as a back-up since she more likely than not will end up practicing law. HYS give you some leeway in that regard but still not a great idea to go to law school not really wanting to be a lawyer. I also get the feeling that MPA's are just all around less horrible in terms of the actual schooling, and if she doesn't need a J.D. to practice law and merely a graduate degree, I think MPA is definitely the way to go.

Yeah probably a MPA or maybe a Master of Public Policy makes more sense. Shorter degree program and I don't think it makes sense to go to law school if you don't want to practice law and are already in the field you want to be in.

Given the goals you gave, she should not go to law school. If she does go to law school she should go to YSH or to Columbia/NYU with a full ride. I'd say 167 for H, low 170's for Y/S. Those could be a little on the high side though.

An MBA degree may be a better course to take based upon her career goals. Yale, Stanford, Berkeley, & Harvard have excellent non-profit concentrations while most of the top ranked MBA programs offer outstanding management concentrations. International business is a bit different in that South Carolina & Thunderbird (in Arizona) tend to be very well respected.

With respect to "needed" LSAT score: Chance at Harvard with a 164 or better, while Yale & Stanford probably want a higher score.
