For example, if a school's 75th percentile is 170, and a new student had a 171, the school's percentile score is dragged up one test slot. A 180 achieves the exact same effect. I don't see schools reporting percentiles higher than 75%. So do higher LSAT scores not carry so much weight in admissions decisions after the 75th percentile?

I'm a heavy splitter. I'm just afraid that 5 extra LSAT points won't help much when I was over the 75th to begin with.

depends on your competition and the quality of your application on the whole - how do you feel about the rest of your application ie) personal statement, letter of recs, etc? If you're not too confident about the non-quantifiable part of your application then those 5 extra points could mean everything

so, it might help or it might not

If you are a splitter the five extra LSAT points would make a difference for sure. Succeeding as a splitter is all about convincing the school you are exceptional despite what your GPA may say. Blowing their 75th out of the water is a good way to do that.
