Which GPA do law schools see?

Postby Johndieck » Fri May 15, 2015 7:32 pm

I've just graduated from my undergrad insitution and my GPA was a 3.745. When I recalculate my GPA though, factoring in DE classes from high school, it drops to a 3.72. Which GPA will the schools I am applying to see? Both or the lower LSAC one?

They'll see both and likely just use your LDAS GPA.

+1

Several years ago there were threads that discussed a small handful of schools that focused instead on "Degree GPA", but they seemed to be the rare exceptions and not the rule.

Do you think it'll hurt me in getting accepted? It's a neglible difference.i'm worried that the difference will look bad.

While it is unlikely one could be sure one ay or another, this difference seems very small, as such it seems highly unlikely to be the deciding difference in an admissions decision.

Any school worth attending will use your LSAC GPA, not your degree GPA, for virtually everything involving admissions. The drop won't matter much unless it pushed you from above median to below (e.g. Michigan's median GPA is a 3.74, and your degree GPA is > median; your LSAC GPA is < their median, which hurts your chances).
