Reference letter from professor who transferred schools

Postby lsatkillah » Sun May 03, 2015 2:35 pm

Hiya,

Can I ask a professor who is transferring schools to write my reference letter? She taught me for a semester and will be leaving at the end of the school year. I'm planning to apply next semester for Fall 2016. I see no problem with it but thought I'd double check given admissions fickleness.

Thanks!

I don't see any reason why this would be a problem.

I had a professor who was visiting my school from another school write one of my letters and didn't have any problems at all with that.

Absolutely no problem with this. As long as it's someone who can write you a good academic rec, it doesn't matter where they are when you apply. Some of my friends have asked old profs for recs years after they moved to other schools and it's been fine.
