Unless UVA is worth $300,000 of non-dischargeable debt to you (hint: it isn't), just blanket the t14 with applications, as well as a couple strong regional schools in your area.

Wait until you have an actual LSAT score. Assuming, however, that you do score in the 170s, applying ED to any law school would be foolish since you would likely receive several substantial scholarship offers from some T-14 law schools.

And if we are talking like $5000 I would honestly rather pay sticker at UVA then a little money at say Cornell.
No one will be able to answer this until you have an lsat. Study up.

If you're concerned about convincing them you're interested, just be sure to write a convincing "Why UVA."

Also, if you're that set on UVA, have you been to visit? If so, you probably shouldn't have to worry about them knowing you're serious.

Just kick ass on the LSAT and blanket the T14. Anything above a 170 and you should be a lock at UVA.

This. ED has way too many costs to use as a way of demonstrating interest

Seriously, I put like an entire week's work into one of them, triple checked all my answers, and finally managed a 180. After all that hard work they wouldn't budge, made me take it for real.

But visit, write a "Y UVA," call to speak to admissions over the summer, and make it generally clear you really want to go to UVA. They're all about that YP.

i would assume a strong why UVA would get you on at least the waitlist -- do they still let you append an ED form after you're on there? i know there were people that did this when i was applying. could be an emergency fuckit button in your back pocket and one that maybe ameliorates your concerns.

i only applied to UVA and would do it again in my situation, but i had extenuating circumstances like significant other being stuck in charlottesville and other considerations of a similar magnitude. absent those (and to some people on this board, even with those) you'd be dumb to apply ED.
