Letter of Continuing Interest

Postby ChrisW » Sun Mar 22, 2015 11:25 pm

Is there a part of this site that details how to write a solid LOCI?

If not, I was waitlisted at Temple in Philadelphia, which is my top choice. I don't have any romantic desire to go there-it's a cheap school with good job placement. Should I mention this is the major factor of me wanting to go there? What should I write about?

I don't think there's anything wrong with being honest about why you want to go there. If the primary reasons are that the school fits your budget and has acceptable job placement, there's nothing wrong with saying so. This is a professional school, the purpose of which is to get you a job and not break the bank. As far as schools seem to be getting from that last bit, admissions offices generally understand that cost is a major concern for most students.

That said, it would probably be best to include some other reasons. You say Temple was your top choice--surely there are factors other than cost and job prospects influencing that? Is Philly where you want to live and work? You could talk about that a little bit.
