Is Consulting a better option than Law?

Postby pollywolly88 » Sun Mar 22, 2015 2:17 pm

Have the opportunity to go into healthcare consulting with a life sciences degree. Healthcare consulting only pays like 70-80K though, what do you think of this? Is dental school or law school a better option?

(ATTENTION MODS: this is a genuine question and I am NOT trolling).

I think consulting for a trucking company is more OP's wheelhouse.

She can specialize in big pharm trucking. Nothing like the legal drug trafficking business. It may also help with the depression.

I'm liking this Russian angle you've got going. Maybe OP could pursue an oligarch and live a life of splendor on the French Riviera.

Do consulting for a few years. Professional school will always be around, waiting to take your money.

Would you rather spend it traveling to boring locations, living in hotels, and making powerpoints?

The world is your oyster, pollywolly88.

I wish I could go back to HS and start over all over again. I don't think law or consulting is the best fit for me. I don't like the legal environment and realized I don't like legal type of writing.

Dental isn't a passion of mine either but I do enjoy seeing patients, examining them and treating them. The drilling and filling is not super interesting though. I wish I could do something in the liberal arts. I really enjoy reading novels. I am not sure what I can do within the liberal arts and still be able to provide for myself...And I was trolling about the just "marry a doctor" part. I want to be financially independent

Apply to an MFA writing program and teach/write. You won't make a ton of money, but you might be happy.

It's funny my undergrad professor suggested that to me when I was in UG because she realized I really enjoyed it. My response back was, "No, I am going to either medical school, dental school, a top 10 law school or a top 10 Business school....I am an Ambitious Female and want to be super successful lol

No, I don't....But in order to apply to dental school, you need at least 100 hours of shadowing a dentist. I shadowed at a dentist's office. Dental work isn't super interesting but I enjoyed speaking to the patients

Isn't it sad how FEW people actually pursue their passions in life?

Healthcare consulting isn't that bad of a gig if seriously interested. Lemme know if you have real questions.
