Rejected at Berkeley...should I be worried?

Postby Gracelover » Thu Feb 26, 2015 10:23 pm

3.94 GPA good professor recs great softs lsat score 96th percentile

I was rejected at Berkeley, the lowest ranking school I applied to. Should I necessarily be worried? Does this automatically mean I will be rejected at all the higher ranking law schools I applied to?

Appreciate your answers!

Apply to the rest of the T14 tonight if for nothing else than more options/scholarship negotiations and keep in mind that Berkeley is not suitable as an admissions barometer for other schools due to its idiosyncratic admissions processes/focus

Also, retake. Don't waste that awesome GPA on a 168 or whatever it is that you have

A 96th percentile LSAT score is below 170, which makes me curious as to why you thought making Berkeley your lowest ranked school was a good idea. Cuz it's not.

Berk is weird, so don't get too down.

I agree with the other posters that you could have some great options with $$$$ at T20s.

Of course not. Berkeley is weird, I was rejected straight-up there but got into every other higher-ranked school except Yale (WL) and Stanford.

3.8 GPA 172 LSAT solid extracurricular activities good personal statement & professor recs not bad.

I got into NYU and got an interview invitation from UChicago but I was waitlisted at Berkeley.

I'm not sure if it was YP or they just put more emphasis on other factors, but surely Berkeley alone can't be the right measure to predict results from other schools.

I wouldn't waste any time trying to figure out what those knuckleheads at Berkeley are thinking. I mean, the Dean of Admissions has two first names but no last name. What's that about? I don't trust any of those goofballs and you shouldn't either.

This is a serious issue
