Northwest Law Schools- Scholarship "game"

Postby Mrandolph219 » Mon Feb 23, 2015 2:53 pm

Hi, I need some advice on what I should do. My stats are 161 and 3.7. I have been accepted to University of Oregon with 35,000, Seattle U with 27,000, and Lewis and Clark with 26,000. Seattle U is probably my top pick for local schools, but Oregon is basically offering me a full ride and a criminal law fellowship. How should I go about asking for more money from Seattle U?

Unrelated question, if I were to get into Vanderbilt (my 1st choice) would it be worth it to go without a scholarship?

How many times have you taken the LSAT? Career goals?

Depends on your finances and personal situation, but the most common answer is going to be no.

As for scholarship inquiries, just be honest about your situation and aspirations and see how the cookie crumbles.

I'm really hoping to do white collar criminal defense, maybe on the East Coast. That's why I would be nervous about accepting a good scholarship, but being stuck practicing in Oregon or Washington.
And I've taken the LSAT once.

Definitely retake. If you want a portable degree you're going to need T-14. Your gpa is strong enough to get you there. Sit out this cycle, retake for 170+ and then enjoy your strong options next cycle.

None of these schools are capable of getting you a job like the one you describe. You need to either lower your sights OR score 8 or 9 points higher on the LSAT, one or the other.
