Failing a Course in My Last Term After Getting Admitted

Post by cloudysky » Sat Feb 21, 2015 12:58 pm

Hi everyone, I've got a bit of a conundrum. I've recently been admitted to Harvard and Columbia Law. However, due to a stupid oversight on my part missing the deadline to drop a course, I find myself at risk of failing one of my courses in my last term. Even if I fail this course, I'll still have all my requirements to graduate, and my other marks will be consistent with the GPA that I used to apply with. My question is do you guys think failing a course in my last term will jeopardize my admission?

With explanation you will be fine.

On another note,
What did you get on your LSAT and what is your undegrad school?

I'm at 175+ and at a public institution.

Regardless, you should try to work with the professor to not fail the course.

You will probably be fine, but if yours is a borderline gpa I'd be a little worried. Either way, try everything you can to fix this.

Go talk to the dean and get a late withdrawal or something.

I saw this in two other threads, but since you made your own thread, it is more fitting to respond here.

Perhaps you should send a brief explanation of the situation in with your updated transcript.

Is there any way you can take the class pass/fail? I know you think you may fail now, but the semester isn't over, and perhaps you can turn it around. If you pass and designate the class as pass/fail, you should be fine. If you managed to get into those two schools, you probably have what it takes to pass.
