Lol I feel like RP is just trying to get attention. But he's getting it considering half the entries have Chicago at #4 alone like he said. I'm 95% sure he's just fucking with us and can't wait to see if what he said is all wrong.

Is there really any difference between Stanford-Columbia-Chicago-NYU-Penn? OCI shows up, BL fights over them.

What's the deal on UVA? Exposed or rewarded for their funded jobs scheme?

No clue if a school will fall out of the T14.

Interesting to see if anyone at the firm will even notice when the new rankings are out.

ingmar's point is 100% correct
we're talking about predictions people are making based on publicly released data
even if a tenth of a point change in the reputation score is statistical noise, that doesn't cut either way
the fact that a point change on the lsat could be wiped out by some opaque and arbitrary measurement does nothing to explain people's behavior in making their predictions
people can only go by the data available to them, and on those numbers, col has improved and chi hasn't
thus, i share ingmar's confusion

You can't hedge your bets if you wanna win the big monies. Gotta make the wild, ridiculous bets. I put Duke at #9. #yolo #DownfallofBoalt

you guys realize that the methodology is public right? you could just go calculate what drop in one aspect negates a bump in another...

What if law schools unionize and all boycott US News

LST prob would become the new US News

Also, can somebody explain to me the why behind Peer Assessment. It sounds like the dumbest thing, but apparently it's weighted to be 1/4 of the ranking metric.

Employer assessment makes more sense, since they're the ones offering jobs. Why do we care what HLS faculty thinks of CLS vs Penn?

Every year the rankings look about the same. I suppose the anticipation is if the T6 will change or if a school will drop out of the T14, or if UT will crack the T14 again. The other speculation is what schools will have a meaningful jump or decline. Usually there are few startling surprises.

I mean, law schools are in theory academic institutions, so you ask academics what they think of an academic institution.

That doesn't make the rankings any less dumb, of course.

I have some inside info, so I almost feel like I'm cheating with my "predictions." But look for UChi to find itself all alone at #4, for UC Irvine to debut between #40 and #45, and for an unexpected rise for U Pittsburgh.

Please do not quote.

Pretty consistent improvement among the top schools- even schools that dropped in ranking, like NYU, went up in % of grads at NLJ firms:

1. Columbia +0.79% (-)
2. Penn + 11.16% (+3)
3. Chicago +8.12% (+1)
4. NYU + 4.27% (-1)
5. Harvard +2.08% (-2)
6. Cornell +10.58% (+4)
7. Northwestern -1.57% (-1)
8. Duke +0.29% (-1)
9. UVA +2.47% (+2)
10. Stanford -1.64% (-2)

The top 14 as a whole: +1.82% (48.41% -> 50.23%) (P value of .38, if you're curious)
And GULC jumped Yale.

Pretty sure some firms like say White case hired more than 6 people. I think they are missing some data.

According to the poll in ATL (just released this morning), the top law schools (from the legal intelligence hiring study); Columbia-Penn-Chicago. Unless there is a major shakeup coming, their rankings [probably] will not mirror USNWR. But hey, who knows?

Indeed. Fuck me, man. I was hoping that no one would bump this, but ballcaps stepped up and twisted the knife.

I mean what were your connections? It's not like your predictions were right and then they swooped in and changed the rankings right before release. Your informant wasn't much of an informant.
