I sure hope not! I'll be 32 when I start! I'm married and have 2 beautiful children. When they are in school I can focus on my studies full time and not have to worry about a lot of the stuff some younger students will. I think it is an advantage (at least I tell myself it is anyway).

Some of you fellow "over 30s" should head over to the new board -- we've got some non-trad threads going.

Not all of us 30 year olds are mature - and although I am not hungover as much as I was 7 years ago, I still obsess about getting laid just as much... :P

There are plenty of women in law school...

"Mature" and "Old" are not the same thing (I'm Captain Obvious).

Drew82abndiv wrote:IMO law firms will look highly upon someone more mature with more experience. Plus, 33 is not that old! They can still get 25+ years out of you at the firm if you are worth your weight so no big deal! Like a previous poster said, if it is what you want - go for it...you only live once!

Plus, the average associate only does 3-5 years in BigLaw anyways.

28 now, 29 when i start in August. Also married.

Kind of worried that the youngsters in my class won't stay off my lawn and will keep blasting their gosh-darned Lady GuGu from their itunes at my house.

I am turning 60 soon and this was something I was interested in when I was 30's and when I got married at 40's but with a mortgage and currently one kid graduated and working  but still have one who is 14 grade 8, and I want him to go to dental school   but he wants NBA:) I said fine do both:) :) I am going parttime at George Washington finishing a MS in Project Mangement that my office is paying for. I am in Federal Gov. about 18 years in service. I have about 3 more years on the mortgage, about 9-10 years for the last son to finish school. I started life with a chemical engineer deg, about 30, did a couple of computer science degrees did about 10 years programming, 1996-2000 hit the MCSE Microsoft certified, 2002-present 2010 networking Cisco certified, CCNP, CCSP, etc. Got a PMP (Project Mangement Professional certification) 2005, hence took a shot and went back to school part time 2007- oh I guess 2012, they pay for 1 class per semester. Guess part of reason at my age now its 60 could I still handle school or not, so far holding my own.

I saw some how to go to Law School books, postings, brought PLS, Delaney's books, Montauk's book on How to get Into Top Law Schools. I also brought some LSAT books as if I am going to apply. I am still doing some IT stuff, money is ok, and plan to stay in Federal until I finally retire. So IF mental and health holds up, and I still have the desire, I feel I still want to pull the trigger at 65-67. By then most of the $$ is ok, my plan is to go to school part time.

I see that they want you to finish in 4 years part time, but if decide to take 6-7 years is that ok. I assume I can get in and that I can study my way to a decent LSAT score. 160 or higher is fine. I am in the Georgetown, George Washington Univer, Univer of Md Law School, Catholic Law, etc area. If I can still work, will try to find a Federal Govenment law job. I still like IT so I plan to continue doing certifications, maybe CCIE routing and switchiing to keep my hand in it.

Sorry for the long winded email just wanted to see ...

Some friends think its ok, some family members say but you will be too old why bother. Well its what I always wanted to do but $$, time, mortgage, etc and did not want to risk it 20 years ago. NOw its at least feasible. At that time not sure I wanted it that badly. Now I've done some other things.

I don't want the debt so want to pay as I go, don't want 100k after I finish, and I am not in a hurry. So can I do it part time 6-7 years?

I dunno, dude, it might be hard to relate to all the lady Gaga listening 22 year old that'll be there. I'm 22 and I have a hard time relating to the shit that's popular w/undergrads. If I hear fucking "Tick-Tock" one more time . . .

if anything it's an advantage. i think it really helped me do well first semester. doing well on a law school exam has as much to do with how you write the test as what you know. age/maturity help you write a good exam.
