Chances of transferring T3/T4 to T1/T2

Post by jmontana » Thu Jan 08, 2015 11:15 am

I'm applying to schools now, and don't have the scores to get into a top law school. I was wondering if it was possible to get into a T3/T4 and transfer to T1 or T2 after completing a year? If so, how likely?

Thanks all replies are appreciated.

LSAT/GPA?
Number of takes used
How do you plan on paying for school?
What regional ties do you have?
What are your legal goals?

In general planning to transfer is always a bad idea. But more info please

This is the wrong way of going about things.
If you don't have the scores to get into a Tier 1 or Tier 2 (which isn't that hard, no offense) then what makes you think you're going to get the grades to transfer out of whatever TTT you go to? You're being awfully presumptuous.

Retake or don't go to law school.

The fact that I went to two majors with a GPA of 3.99, succeeded in everything I have ever done; I scored a 150 being extremely ill with a clouded mind from Dayquil Extreme. I'm retaking it and will probably receive a drastic improvement, but I want to know my options in case something goes wrong.

Going to a TTT with a 4.0 will be the worst decision of your life.
Improving your score even just 15-20 points (which sounds like a lot but it's really not that difficult with diligent studying and starting from such a low score) will give you T14 options and the choice of going to a strong regional (T20) for free.

Where are you PT'ing around?

If this is the case, you will absolutely do better second time around. Don't be afraid to sit out a cycle to get the lsat that matches your GPA. Right now your options won't be great because of the lsat, but lsat is a changeable number. Your GPA is easily t14 worthy. Just go after that lsat score and come back when it's higher. With that GPA the only answer you're gonna get is retake, and it truly is the right one. If something goes wrong on your next take, you still have one more to get even higher. The sky's the limit Joe.

T3 or T4 = 1 to ~5% chance at lower t-14

T3 or T4 = 1 to 25-33% chance at T1

T3 or T4 = 1 to 40-50% chance at T2/T3

this is from past experience (myself, and friends)

But honestly, name one non-T20 (generous cutoff) that is worth transferring into and paying sticker for.
