Difference between applying now and jan 3rd?

I apologize for making another thread within the last couple of hours but I had a quick question that I am hoping I can get an answer to.

I am waiting for my december retake score and am wondering should I apply now or wait till I get the scores and apply the next day? I know conventional wisdom is before Christmas is on time but I kind of don't want to waste money applying if I find out later my retake sucked. So would it really be that bad if I apply on jan 3? I also figure that most admission places would be closed so what diffeence would it make? Am I mistaken in my thinking?

I have my ps, recs, optional essays and addendums all done and on lsac. I'm just waiting on hitting the apply button. Any suggestions?

No. It'd be smart to wait so you can save yourself money. January 3rd is by no means late.

Most places are closed until the 5th I think. I would wait for the score on the off chance it comes out and makes you rethink applying this cycle and save yourself the app fees. (I hope that's not what happens though!) Better to have all the info in front of you imo.

I would add one important caveat to the above: be aware of special program deadlines. For instance, NYU's named scholarships require you to be submitted by Jan 1 to be eligible. If you are not willing to miss the boat on consideration there, make sure you've done specific research where necessary.

Thanks for the tip but I don't think my grades or lsat score will be in competion for name schollys at nyu haha.

I'm leaning to applying after getting my lsat score. Thanks for the replies so far, other thoughts?

very interesting read. thanks.

"It would probably be foolish to think that any of the % increases you see in the charts would apply to an application sent out one day earlier, as the case would be in the aforementioned example"

perfectly applies to my situation considering most schools are closed now. so i think i found my answer.
