Decision mailed

I was checking my Vanderbilt application status and the online file showed a decision was already mailed to me yesterday. However, I will not be in my home address for the next month and the admissions office told me that I had to wait a couple of weeks before emailing them for an email decision letter (Why they made this so ridiculously complicated?). I guess it is probably a rejection because all of my other admissions (especially Vanderbilt's on par UT and UCLA) were notified by telephone calls. Wonder if someone has a similar experience with Vanderbilt and could lend me some insight?

Thanks.

It's actually pretty cool. Vanderbilt does this because, instead of a call, they send you this huge fucking box of vanderbilt materials and a bit of garb iirc. It's pretty neat. You can find out whether it was an acceptance or not by seeing if you have any packages coming to you by like fedex. They sent rejections out by USPO. But if you already got into UT and UCLA I'm sure it's an acceptance.

Yep I can confirm that, it's a thick packet with information, books, and stickers that go with your acceptance letter. Check if the item sent was a 6lb package via Fedex (google and sign up for Fedex delivery manager to see this), if it is you were probably accepted.

FYI status checker hasn't updated for me yet and I was accepted and they don't do acceptance phone calls so don't count on them.

Try calling. Similar situation, diferent school. Just called admission and told them my story, they looked it up, took about five minutes, so I'm guessing they got approval. Made the woman's day, because it was the only time she got to do an offer in real-time.

They've sent it to my "current" (undergrad) address but I'm home at my "permanent" address for the next month. I figured this would happen so I've had my mail forwarded from the current to permanent address until I go back to school. Your decision letter may have already gotten to your address, but if not I'd recommend contacting the USPS online and having your mail forwarded. It's done quickly online. This could be useful for future decision letters if they're coming to you by mail instead of email/phone. Hope that helps a little.
Thanks. The problem is that I am going to travel here and there in the next month so there is not an address I can use to forward the mail too.

I see why they stick to the old style of communication. That makes sense. Thanks for your clarification and kind words.

6 lb? No kidding! You are right; I called them and they refused to tell me the decision. Thanks.

Thanks. But I did call and the admissions office lady refused to give me an answer (that was why I suspect it would be a rejection)...

The other poster may have been telling you to call FedEx and they will tell you if a package is on its way. Alternatively, you can log in to FedEx and create a profile for their Delivery Manager. It will ask you a series of verification questions and then you can see if they have a package in your name being sent to whatever address you put on the app.

Yeah - the Vanderbilt acceptances are awesome. Huge black box with the Vandy logo and swag inside.

the vandy acceptances are so overhyped.

OP, do you have any friends or family in the area who can pick up your mail for you?

Thank you very much, man. I set up my account and saw the package from Nashville!

Thanks but unfortunately not. However as long as I know it is an acceptance letter, it is good enough. Because I am planning on submitting the law scholar award application, I need to make sure that I am not doing some useless work.
