Well the rankings are incredibly important from an admissions perspective since they introduced the obsession with numbers and the effort to raise (or keep) medians

I am not a practicing attorney, but the practicing attorneys I work with have zero fuqs to give about the rankings beyond the obvious "we will hire someone below median from Columbia, but only from the very top of Brooklyn Law"
