Question about LOCIs

I've read through http://www.top-law-schools.com/appendixf.html and other informational pages on letters of continued interest. All of the samples I've read include quotes like "X law is my top choice, and if admitted I would definitely attend."

I can't honestly say that I would definitely attend any given school at this point, especially before recieving scholarship offers, and I'm not going to lie in my LOCI. How would it impact my chances if I submit LOCIs that just say "X Law remains one of my top choices" or something equally vague? Any other thoughts on LOCIs? I'm under the impression that not submitting any LOCI at all would lead to an auto-ding.

Saying it's one of your top choices but refraining from committing yourself is fine.

Is a LOCI appropriate if we have no new awards, jobs, grades increases, etc., and are just saying that we'd love to attend the school?
