Georgia state university as undergrad...

Post by stef1330 » Sat Jan 04, 2014 8:44 pm

[*]

Hey, so I go to Georgia state university in atlanta. I'm here because the love of my life is a cheerleader here and we are getting married once I graduate.

However, my dream law school is UVA. I plan to have a 3.45 by graduation and Lord willing a dope LSAT score.

That being said, should I transfer elsewhere for undergrad because UVA isn't a top 100 undergraduate institution?

In other words, how much does undergrad name effect my acceptance into (UVA) law school

Your UG institution isn't going to have any impact. I graduated from an unimpressive UG and have already been accepted to 6 T14 schools without any rejections/waitlists.

Honestly, your GPA is going to cause you the most trouble as it is beneath UVA's 25th. Work on raising that as much as you can and kill the LSAT to maximize your chances.

edit: scooped

If you can hit 169+ on your LSAT, you have an extremely good chance at getting into UVA if you apply ED (and maybe even RD).

As others have said, 98% of undergrads are virtually interchangeable. And even if you could move to a top school, the hassle of transferring isn't worth the minimal bump you would get.

The only thing that might hurt you about going to Georgia State is that you're not a Virginia resident.

Outside of major D1 sports colleges, cheerleaders are usually pretty meh.
