there is no reason to post about law school acceptances on facebook unless you're telling everyone where you're going to attend...don't be that guy op

Also, I had an e-mail from a law school professor who mentioned several of my interests on facebook, then tied those interests into reasons why I should attend. Impressive but creepy. While I don't know how often they do it, law schools can and do look at your facebook account. Make it totally private and/or don't post anything stupid.

You'd be surprised what other people can see on FB. If you're worried about privacy, you might want to just to call or text your friends.

You should use the "view as" function if you're worried about what the public can see.

I'm friends with one girl that does this for every single acceptance. A lot of the general public still has the perception that law school in general is tough to get in to, so to get accepted somewhere is a big deal. Don't get that girl though, especially when you apply to 10+ schools.
EDIT: In before someone calls out my humblebrag about being friends with a girl.

1. Don't post it on fbk. I'm sure your friends will be happy for you but they and everyone else won't be impressed. Unless it's your dream school and you are 99% attending, it's irrelevant.
2. Why would you be worried other schools know where you get in...? I think that is def not something to even think about, considering you will probably try bargaining with schools/schollys eventually anyways, who cares who knows when.

I don't know that I agree with y'all about facebook.
I plan on making 2 statuses, one where in get in any school for the first time, and one when I get into a dream/def attending school.

Not exactly sure why everyone is telling him how to behave on Facebook. That's not what he asked. Who cares what he wants to share with his own friends? Worry about yourselves.

It's incredibly easy to protect who sees your statuses.metroidbum wrote:Would it make everyone feel better if I told you that I only plan on doing it for this one school?
My concern about schools seeing it is that the school in question is a very good school; I'm worried about others seeing it and yield protecting.

1. Go to "Privacy Settings."
2. Under "Who can see my stuff?" -> "Who can see your future posts?" select "Friends."
3. Click "Limit Past Posts."
4. Under "Who can look you up?" select "Friends," "Friends," and "Off."
5. Go to "Timeline and Tagging."
6. Select "Only Me," "On," "Only Me," "Only Me," "On," "Only Me," and "No One."
Done. You could even select "Friends" for all of the "Only Me" options in 6 and still be fine as far as law school admissions goes. I'm pretty sure adcoms don't friend request you or try to look at your profile from one of your friends' accounts.
