2.7/180-University of Kentucky Law

I took the LSAT this summer and got a 180 after studying extensively for 3 months, although my GPA is a low 2.7. I had one bad year while I was struggling with something personal, which significantly lowered my GPA. Excluding the GPA from the bad year I would have a cumulative 3.3, and will put an addendum in my application explaining my circumstances. Also, I am most likely going to take a year off and clerk after graduating this Spring so my last semester grades will help boost my GPA up some.

Does anyone have an idea of what my chances are for getting into University of Kentucky?
Thanks!

Don't settle for just Kentucky. Shoot an app at WUSTL, UVA, and maybe Northwestern.

This is a troll. No person capable of a 180 would target UK.

Get work experience and apply to Northwestern. You can still get into a T14, even with your GPA. Forget about UK.

You're assuming that, 1. LSAT has significant correlation with intelligence, which it don't, and, 2. LSAT has anything to do with knowledge of what the chances of someone with a 2.7/180 would be at various schools.

I also think possibly troll, but if not, why would you go there. You can get into a T14, despite the shit GPA. The 180 is like a rare piece of art.

My cycle there was a 2.7/172. It's totally possible.

Both assumptions are reasonable. I'm not even going to address you saying that LSAT performance has no correlation to intelligence because it's just such an absurd contrarian point to make. As for the second point, to get a 180, you'd need to be extremely motivated (either to go to law school or to beef up your lsat tutor resume or w/e). If you're motivated enough to get a 180, chances are you've been to sites like TLS or have at least glanced at school rankings or talked to consultants and have realized that you can get into a much better school with that score.

The assumptions may be reasonable, but they don't support the conclusion you drew from them.

Not necessarily troll. Lots of people take the process in incremental fashion. Figure out LSAT first and then look into schools. 2.7 GPA leads me to believe the guy maybe was kind of lost in college and then recently decided he wanted to go to law school.
