law school admissions counseling
Does anybody know of recommended law school counselors? There's so many online who all claim to be the best that it's hard to get a good idea of who's telling the truth. If there's any questions you know of I could throw to the counselors which would better help me distinguish them, that'd be great too!

You probably don't need one. What is it that you hope a counselor can help you with? If you've finished school then your GPA is set, studying for the LSAT is pretty much on you, the only thing a counselor might really help you with is your personal statement and, honestly, this website is all you need to get that looking good.

I have not paid for the services of a advisor, but I have found the posting by Mike Spivey here at TLS to be interesting and helpful.jellyfish921 wrote:Does anybody know of recommended law school counselors? I highly recommend it. It's not a scam at all. Blueprint is great and reasonably priced as well.

Blueprint also has an admissions consulting component that I used. And in no way is it a scam.

If you gonna pay, then Mike Spivey.
If not, stick around on TLS long enough and you'll pick up things.

I'll echo others here on TLS, go with Spivey, he has shown that he cares about applicants and has a wealth of value-added knowledge. As for tricks to differentiate the good counseling from the scams, scam counselors will attempt to take your money at all costs (even if they cannot add any value). Ask about what the service can do for you if you are above both medians (LSAT and GPA) and you'll likely gather how fishy their service might be.

Another vote for Spivey. Knows his stuff and is a great dude, plus he's got a new partner that's also amazing.
