guys, WHERE IS THIS EPICNESS/MASSACRE

Idk, a consistent drop of 1 point for most schools towards the top is pretty epic... The difference between each point at the 165-173 level is pretty huge.

Is there some magic date that all schools must post their medians by? Or does anyone atleast know when we might expect most of them to be released?

A few schools don't release medians to the public, so we normally don't find out until the USNWR updates its rankings around March.

Kudos to the schools that gave students more money and reduced class sizes to maintain their medians. It's a short term loss, but they'll probs move up in the USNWR rankings and their students will be more likely to find jobs and/or get out of debt.

It's nice to see the market self correct at the middle but I won't be satisfied until Cooley is dead.

They can partially recoup by accepting more transfers whose stats don't affect their medians and who will pay sticker for two years.

Texas seems to be doing this.

I can't complain.

... and lol at the schools that increased their class sizes by more than 20 (including Berkeley). Decreasing class size has the following effects:

Pros
1) Grants schools more wiggle room in regards to LSAT / GPA, which in turn can boost these factors in the USNWR rankings
2) Although students will fall into percentiles based on grades as always, there will be fewer students competing for the same jobs (both from the school and in general), thus increasing the school's employment rate in the USNWR rankings and thereby helping more students avoid joblessness
3) As long as the school doesn't lay off any faculty, the student:teacher ratio will improve, which will affect this factor in the USWNR rankings
4) Allows schools to improve their selectivity rate by admitting fewer students, which in turn will affect this factor in the USNWR rankings

Cons
1) Less income from tuition

Pro #2 is really the only thing that we students will benefit from, but the schools themselves have a lot to gain from reducing class size if USNWR rank is really as important as schools make it out to be.

Ranking is important only to the extent higher ranking likely = more money

Agreed. Shame on Berkeley for increasing class size ITE.

University of Idaho

LSAT: 152 (-1)
GPA: 3.26 (+.05)
Class: 110 (+8)

Just read the press release from the school and thought it was interesting that applications actually increased at Idaho by over 13% from last year. They noted that only 3 schools experienced a 10%+ increase. This seems kind of strange to me but I guess that 15k in-state tuition makes it a decent option for a lot of people.

Penn's view book has their c/o 2016 info, but they leave out medians. Of course. I'd post the link, but I'm on my phone and lazy.

Pretty sure Berkeley's tuition did go a bit down this year. That's a real thing.

They held their 25% and 75% LSAT #s. 164, 171.

FTFY

Agreed with that correction. Though to be honest I would rather spend $15,000 a year and have a 50% chance at employment than spend $30,000 a year at UW for a 67% chance at employment. There really aren't any strong regional schools in the northwest or mountain west so I would just go to the cheapest school I could find with a decent chance of employment if I didn't have the numbers for a T14. I don't expect everyone to agree but I have always maintained that there is value in cheap schools that are the lone institution in their respective states.

Sure looks that way. I am extremely interested to see what the rankings will look like. This makes me doubt that Penn and UVa can stay at the #7 position together.

Seemingly great job for Penn. No idea why they wouldn't publish their median though, a great way to differentiate themselves from UVA for incoming students

I don't know if I'd call it a "great way." Useless is probably the word I would choose.
