Re: C/O 2016 median lsat/gpa/class size
I wonder if all the pro-Penn trolling on this site pushed people there instead of the rest of MVPB and maybe even over some kids who might have gone to NYU or Dat Rigor and that's why they (presumably) kept the 170?
I think TLS has a decently strong influence. In USC's "Please tell us why you didn't go here" survey they specifically asked if TLS was a site that we visited for information. I thought that was interesting.
Also Penn is an unabashed yield protector.

To be fair, and I'm all for hating expensive law schools, other things go into increased tuition and increased costs of running a law school beyond inflation. Theres a lot of variables: inflation, pension plans, insurance costs, recruiting, payroll considerations etc.Regulus wrote:Yes... but "more money" doesn't necessarily imply "more students." Over the past several years, schools have been increasing tuition at rates way above the national inflation rate (which has been around 2~3%); sometimes the jump in tuition has been as high as 9% (or more). Accordingly, if we were to assume that the average increase in tuition is 5% and that the annual inflation rate is 2%, then that means that schools get to profit from the difference (3%). Consequently, a school with a class size of 200 could reduce its class size by 5 students while raising tuition by 5% and still make money (calculated for inflation) off the deal.nucky thompson wrote:Ranking is important only to the extent higher ranking likely = more money
Instead, some schools are raising tuition while increasing class size (by a lot) in a struggling market where a lot of their grads won't find jobs.
***I was just looking up the numbers for Berkeley... Has their tuition actually gone down this year by $10.50? According to the most recent ABA Official Guide on LSAC, last year's tuition was $48,068.00 for residents and $52,019.00 for non-residents; however, Berkeley's website shows this year's tuition being $48,057.50 for residents $52,008.50 for non-residents.
FTFYsasquatchsam wrote:Just read the press release from the school and thought it was interesting that applications actually increased at Idaho by over 13% from last year. They noted that only 3 schools experienced a 10%+ increase. This seems kind of strange to me but I guess that 15k in-state tuition makes it a decent option fora lot of peopleonly about half of the people that decide to sacrifice 3 years of their lives for a 50% chance at decent employment.

Applications Submitted 858 (UNLV)
I kind of wish I was one of those 858. I would've felt special. Is that typical for UNLV? less than 1,000 applicants?

If this cycle lowers those numbers again I will be stoked. high 160s look like they can get some money out of T14 now. Very exciting.

Isn't it a little premature to assume Penn held the 170?

Little bit of conflicting info between their flyer and the class of 2016 profile that was posted today (different 25th).

So we don't have to wait until USNWR? Didn't Spivey mention something about the ABA and October?

If Penn did get a 75th of 171 it's very likely that they got a median of 170.

Small class size. Don't need very many 170's and 171's to pull it off. Most of the median gamers like Penn have the median either identical to the 75th or one point below.Humbert Humbert wrote:Why?Tiago Splitter wrote:If Penn did get a 75th of 171 it's very likely that they got a median of 170.

I feel like it's been like this for the past few years. Why do most TLSers refuse to believe in CCNP? Just look at dat Biglaw + clerkship.

Perhaps talk about sacrificing the GPA in order to maintain the 173 was also premature...t-14orbust wrote:Wow, rock solid 25/75s.

Because T6 refers to admissions only. Not employment. Otherwise NYU wouldn't be listed with Columbia and Chicago.ManoftheHour wrote:HYSlonglivetheking wrote:holy shit penn increased its 25th LSAT?
