C/O 2016 median lsat/gpa/class size Forum

So I'm not sure the source is reliable (it just says all the data was provided by the law schools), but the new September edition of "Chicago Lawyer" claims to have LSAT and GPA ranges for Chicago that are different from last year.

LSAT: 167-170-173
GPA: 3.71-3.87-3.94
Student body: 634

Edit: pg. 29 for those who have a copy.

GPA range seems the same as whats on LSN. Could it be very old data?

It absolutely could be old. The data is almost the same as class of 2014, but the LSAT median was 171 that year, so I figured I'd mention it at least.

If it's not real I think the most likely scenario is that they mistyped the median from co 2014, but 0 is rather far from 1 on the keyboard. It's odd that the mag,released on sept 1, would have the new UChi data though weeks before orientation

Does it ever seem to anyone else as if more people on TLS want to be law school admissions consultants, LSAT test writers, or career advisers than want to be lawyers?

I'll say amen to this. Is there anyone that doesn't think that JS and Asha have awesome jobs? I would work in those admissions offices in a second...not that I am qualified to even get into those schools let alone be employed my them but I think it would be a great job.

Admissions is a great job -- you get to know hundreds of high caliber and wonderful people every year and spend your employer's money building a relationship with them! You travel, make great friends with many colleagues, try new marketing ideas, and work in a great environment. I think many people on TLS would love it and do very well at it.

Okay... you got me. The "Chicago Lawyer" is actually a magazine I've been running for several years just so that I could publish fake UChicago medians and thereby double-troll everyone in this thread.

(Also, the GPA medians are down a little bit from last year according to the magazine.)

I saw that too. It also has numbers from other Illinois law schools too and I don't think they match this year's data. Idk what if any year they do match though; I can't be assed to compare over multiple years.

I'm surprised the data for every single law school is not public --travel season has started and they can't say at the fairs and forums "we don't know last cycles numbers" because that would be both a lie and the worst marketing ploy possible. So the gaps from schools is enigmatic to me.

Anyway, I'll be at the GW Fair Oct 7th, I'm pretty sure I can just walk around say hi to everyone and politely ask for their numbers. Actually I'm pretty sure anyone can. The excel sheet should be entirely populated in a week or two.

According to admissions at my school, they're releasing at the end of October.
Partially because they said numbers could change up until October 5th, so there's no reason to report and then have to change in case something crazy happens.

Just what my office has said.

But I've already posted class size and the GPA trend, but no definitive stuff for another month. I tried to ask for y'all

I think there's a good chance that Chicago may knock Columbia down to #5 next year, instead of being tied for #4. Of course, the year after that Chicago will no longer be benefiting from the Ruby boost so who knows then.
