Re: GPA Addendum - should I?

I don't think it's a drastic enough drop to bother. If you really want to, that one is ok. Bear in mind that it won't help you; it just keeps adcomms from imagining the worst case scenario that makes you look bad (rehab or nervous breakdown or something).

Your last point is my main reason for wanting to include it. Due to something I will be disclosing in the C&F section, I sort of think I would prefer to dispel any notions that the drop in GPA was due to something more unseemly.

Of course if you don't think they will view it as that significant of a drop, I have to weigh the cons of making them read another addendum.

Reading a relevant addendum doesn't really have a con associated with it. Death in the family, especially the immediate family, is one of the few addenda that they will view as relevant. I'd probably recommend sending it in (though it needs to be polished up before you send it in).

I don't think this merits an addendum.

Thanks again.

No, don't draw attention to it. There's a chance they might not notice a single F if you don't point it out.

Honestly, this is a case where an addendum should be written.

However, if you talk about it in your PS, there's probably no need to mention it again in an addendum (which should only be used to ADD to your application, not to REPEAT information.)

I've shared this article with others on TLS, so I might as well post it here as well:

Great article that details when you should and shouldn't write an addendum, how to go about doing so, and more. Give it a look and good luck with admissions!
