Cardozo ($$) vs Fordham ($)

Hi All. I was all set to go to Cardozo with 25k/year scholarship but recently got in off the waitlist at Fordham with 5k/year scholarship. My living expenses are paid for but I have to take loans out for the rest.

I do not want to practice big law so I am not sure if the extra $60k total is worth it for Fordham. I am going to be 31 by the time I graduate so I don't want to be paying off loans into my 40s. Retaking the LSAT is not an option at this point.

What are your opinions?

Thanks!

This is only true if:
1. You have family money/other assistance that is predicated and non-negotiable on you attending school this year; or
2. Your student visa is about to expire.

Otherwise this is false.

+1. You should absolutely retake, as the cost of attendance for either of those schools will be unjustifiably high.

This. Retake or don't go. Neither school is worth anywhere near that amount.

Almost 40% of Fordham grads in the class of 2012 didn't get long-term, full-time jobs as lawyers. Almost 50% of Cardozo grads in the class of 2012 didn't get long-term, full-time jobs as lawyers.

You can improve your future career chances substantially by getting a better LSAT score.

Is there a gun to your head? Of course it's an option. It's one of only two intelligent options before you, the other being not going to law school.

Fordham at that price would just be sheer madness. Employment prospects from Cardozo are abysmal, and we're not only talking BigLaw. Only half of Cardozo grads are getting any full-time, long-term legal job at all. Don't go to either of these law schools at these prices.

OP, looking at your posts, I really think you should wait a year. First, you say you don't want to work at a firm, and want to do "Jury Consulting" instead. I get that this is a real field but it doesn't really sound like a viable path, and I don't think a BS in psych makes you particularly qualified. Take a year off and work in jury consulting to build connections if that's what you really want.

only go to cardozo if you're confident you can graduate in the top 5-10% with LR.

No one can be confident of this.
