It could. If it were argued that students at the most preftigous universities are graded on the merits of their work in addition to on a scale, that would preclude you from being considered a grade inflator to what is likely 95% of UGs and in that small subset of universities, this school would be relatively deflating their grades because schools like Yale and Brown exist





I can't explain the disparity, I have no idea. Worse than average students choose to take the LSAT I guess

So all else being equal, it'd be better to attend Brown/Yale than the school in question?

As for the disparity: if the school in the OP has a lot fewer LSAC applicants than, say, a big school with a high average LSAC gpa like Harvard, would the OP school be more susceptible to just a few low-end outliers dragging it down?

From personal experience, ad coms don't care at all if your school grade inflates but HYS does care about the reputation of your UG. Statistically speaking, if we assumed you as equal to that of the student entering any school, Yale would be your best bet. A big if.


Yes, but the same can be said for over achieving outliers.


This isn't something that matters for admissions.
In order of importance
1 your GPA
2 your GPA
3 Your GPA
4 For HYS, the pedigree of your UG
99 Relative GPA/LSAT to your peers at your UG

Pros only work for pay.

It definitely looks like there's something skewing it. Outliers wouldn't be my first guess. I would look for some large track or program within the school that grade inflates relative to the general population, but that is unlikely to produce law school applicants. Like a business school, a nursing school, or a large fine arts program. It could be the other way around too, as in a relatively difficult criminal justice program. That seems less likely to me though.

Is graduating GPA as calculated by LSAC? Could be the school doesn't give A+s and schools don't count retaken classes towards graduating GPA

If other schools have very comparable LSAC and graduation GPAs then my final guess is self selection. If its primarily arts/hard sciences, the school probably just has fewer people that apply to law school, and the people that do may be doing it as more of a backup plan.
