I can't find it now, but there was a candidate a few years ago who played Russian Roulette with ED, sending out a few ED applications. When the schools found out, they all rejected him (one of them he had already been accepted to; they rescinded his acceptance). It's on LSN somewhere.

Don't do this. On top of getting blacklisted, there's a huge chance it will kill you in C&F down the line. You're signing your name to something that's a lie; that's one of the few things they really care about.

Yeah I remember that guy. These weren't TT and TTT schools that denied him, either. He got blackballed throughout the T14

You guys, I can't believe I'm responding, but this analysis is incorrect. The early admission contract states the school's remedies and course of action: you lose your offer of admission and they report your conduct to other schools. Guess what? If the other schools hear about this, they won't want you either, at least T14 schools. Schools are more heavily invested in maintaining the integrity of the ED process than they are in getting any particular applicant.

The contract requires the applicant to only have one ED application, and if accepted to matriculate, withdraw all regular apps and to not apply to other schools. My understanding is that it only lasts for one cycle so you could apply to other schools the next year; I don't think schools can force you to attend or defer the following year.

OP: I am not sure why you are even considering this, it doesn't look well for you to begin this process by figuring out if the plainly stated rules are enforced.
